Youth Across One Sky (YAOS) hosted an English workshop for children in the local community, combining language learning with opportunities for children and students to interact in a fun and welcoming environment.

Creating Opportunities to Learn Together

At YAOS, we believe that meaningful engagement begins with creating spaces where people can connect with one another. Rather than viewing community activities simply as opportunities to provide something to others, we aim to create experiences where everyone can participate, interact, and learn together.

Through the workshop, children explored English through interactive activities and games designed to make learning enjoyable and approachable. The session encouraged children to use English in a relaxed setting while building confidence through communication and participation.

Learning Through Play

The workshop introduced children to English through interactive Halloween-themed activities and games. Rather than approaching language learning solely through the classroom, the session encouraged children to communicate, participate, and enjoy using English in a relaxed environment.

A Halloween Experience Together

The event also incorporated a trick-or-treat activity, with YAOS members preparing treats for participating children. The activity added a playful element to the workshop and created opportunities for children and volunteers to interact beyond the classroom activities.

More than simply providing treats or teaching English, the event aimed to create a shared experience where children could learn, play, and connect with others in their community.
